Dooney & Bourke Alto Handbags
The Dooney & Bourke label was launched in South Norwalk, Connecticut in 1975 by Peter Dooney and Frederic Bourke. Their first products were braces, sometimes called suspenders, and belts made with surcingle leather. The braces and belts were made available in many colors and patterns which made them an instant hit at department stores.

In 1981, the Dooney & Bourke company expanded their product line with fine-leather handbags. Two years later, in 1983, Dooney & Bourke introduced All-Weather Leather (AWL), which was 100% waterproof cowhide and this became the standard for all their leather purses. The waterproofing of a leather purse along with the minimal care that went with it, made Dooney & Bourke purses the most popular designer handbag produced in the United States.
Today, Dooney & Bourke handbags are available in more than a dozen different designer lines and their most popular are the leather Alto handbags. Made from all-natural Vachetta leather and with the benefits of AWL, Dooney & Bourke Alto handbags are as practical as they are beautiful.
The Dooney & Bourke Alto zip around computer case allows you to carry your laptop and documents everywhere with you when you are on the go. It comes with two outside pockets, an outside and inside zip pocket, and an adjustable, detachable strap. Along with a zip closure for all of your belongings, it has feet for standing and inside lining for added protection.
My favorite is the East / West top zip Alto bag. It has one outside pocket, an inside zip pocket and business card slot featured in a lined interior. The drop length of the strap is 8" and the bag measures 12.75 x 2.75 x 5.25" and comes in purple; it is so adorable.
